"If there are people in the edge community who are interested in making a difference and connecting in real time with others of like mind I recommend hooking up with your local cell of Company of Friends. These groups are networked all over the world. They have sprung from the readership of Fast Company magazine. You can register on the web site : http://www.fastcompany.com/community. Here in Auckland, New Zeland we have a pretty big group of highly motivated professionals who really do want to make a difference (in spite of all the talk about a Kiwi brain drain). The world's biggest CoF is in Denver Colorado. They have 200 members - we have 60, so I reckon that's a pretty good indicator. There is a new group in Wellington also. Sign on. Create value, make a difference."

"Hi folks, I've visited NZ several times and will be in Kiwiland oncemore this winter. It's what I think paradise should be like. In some of the comments Kiwis are talking about prosperity and material wellbeing in the future. I certainly hope the Kiwis will treasure the treasure in themselves. One of the greatest things I experienced in NZ is the fact that unlike here in Europe, Kiwis know how to appreciate life itself instead of looking for more money to buy more useless stuff and have the illusion to be happy. NZ's attraction lies in the beauty of nature and the friendliness of the people. Greetings from Holland."
Information Analyst, Geldrop, The Netherlands

"A visiting American tourist was overheard discussing his visit to NZ. The Kiwi he was talking to said "We do well for a small country", instantly the American replied "You Kiwis all talk about NZ as being a small country! I have travelled the world many times over, and to my mind NZ is the biggest country in the world." I believe this website and the attitudes and behaviours it promotes will mean that "WE" will start to think about our wonderful country and its people in the same light."

"Great site - allowing us to share our views and to recognise positive achievement. The Internet now allows us to move beyond the barrier that is imposed by the negative and pessimist journalistic community that presides over media content here. Lets show the power of great ideas! PS - A great silver fern that visually shows us taking on the world is the Air New Zealand GlobalPlus card - it would look great on the Silver Fern page."
Head of Marketing, Wellington, NZ

"Absolutely the best website I have seen. CONGRATULATIONS. Having lived in a few countries around the world I often consider where I came from, and where I am going, and lately I have been referencing my future to what NZ is, has done and will do. The upshot is that NZ is a meca for talent, ideas: a world leader. In this website you have captured many of the key individuals and ideas who encapsulate how great we are. NZ is a source of inspiration for me and I will be another icon for NZ, it inspires me to be so. I have almost totally stopped reading newspapers and watching TV due to the negativism it promotes. When I was at University I had a concept to start a radio station that only promoted what was good in the world. I believe this website is another version of this, even better ... promoting good news NZ. Keep it up and please know that I am forwarding the NZ Edge here in Australia."
Marketing Executive, Sydney, Australia

"Kevin, listened to your address at the Compaq Education conference and thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so that I have now registered on the NZEDGE.COM and also purchased your book Peak Performance this morning. Personal congratulations on your worthy project TYLA ... fantastic concept and I'm sure the results are equally as impressive."
Marketing Manager, Auckland, NZ

"Thanks to Kevin for speaking at our Education Conference dinner last night, what we heard was golden and inspired me to get on line this morning to find out more. Thank you for going outside your job description with programmes like NZEDGE - that's where the best work is created."
Customer Relationship Manger, Auckland, NZ

"I was a ring-in at a teachers Compaq conference at Eden Park on Thursday night and heard Kevin Roberts speak ... and I must say I was very impressed with what I heard, hence why I am here :-) As someone who spends time doing Internet Relay Chat (IRC) and mixing with people from all over the world who know little, if anything, about New Zealand, I've found it necessary and desirable to tell people everything I can about this country I live in that I'm so passionate about. I can't think of a better place to send them to, than somewhere that talks about our Unsung Heroes, among other things! Thanks!!"

"A favourite excerpt - "The road will never swallow you. The river of your destiny will always overcome evil. May you understand your fate. Suffering will never destroy you, but will make you stronger. Success will never confuse you or scatter your spirit, but will make you fly higher into the good sunlight. Your life will always surprise you." Ben Okri - "The Famished Road". Here's to flying in the good sunlight."
Manager, Christchurch, NZ

"Kia Ora, I sell a New Zealand software development tool, and am constantly confounded by the tall poppy status of a NZ made product that is in no way a market leader statistically, but a world leader technologically. Why do Kiwis have an inherent mistrust of local product that is not processed by the global mass marketing machines? Is this the same mistrust of our personal sporting abilities, manifested by lack of confidence when the heat is on? AS A CULTURED RACE, WE SHOULD BE PROUD OF RESIDING "ON THE EDGE" AND OUTSIDE OF THE VACUUM OF THE MASS MUNDANE."
Account Manager, Wellington, NZ

"I am 21 year old New Zeland bodyboarder. I came across your page while searching through the net. I read your inspirational speaches and "New Zealand go get 'em" style comments ie the little guy taking on the big guys. I am currently ranked 2nd in New Zealand for my sport and will be representing New Zealand as I travel with the New Zealand Bodyboarding Team to Hawaii, Tahiti and various competitions on the Australian and New Zealand Circuits. I am in fact a little guy taking on the big guys. As you can appreciate funding for minority sports in New Zealand is hard to come by. I would like to ask if the New Zealand Edge can help out in any way by assisting our team with funding or helping to find someone who can so we can take on the big guys. Please e-mail me at jonblackwood@yahoo.com if you can help or if you would like more infomation on our trip."
Bodyboarder, Christchurch, NZ

"Thank you for articulating the EDGE concept. For too long I've struggled with the word 'frontier', as it is overused and, within an American context, largely historical. I hope that the MBA talk will produce results. I'm very concious that we stuffed up our value system in the Agri tech system some while ago, and that great ideas and ways forward are sitting in scientific dissertations - that were somehow designated as an end product somewhere along the way. There are a couple of people in NZ who have realised that this great store of advantage is sitting there, and who have just come to realise that interpreters are needed. Synthesists who can establish problems and go looking for solutions amount to outpourings of some very gifted people. At the moment they are bewildered by the choice and the need to prioritise, and the need to locate capital. Their source of energy is the need to maintain the edge for NZ in markets where the rest of the world might catch up to us. They will enjoy this website."
Group Manager Operations, Wellington, NZ

"Hey guys - awesome site, inspiring concepts but now I want to share even more with my mates around the world. How about some e-cards - we've got breathtaking imagery and incredible messages - some cutting edge technology would really help us share it far and wide! And how about some gear - we love the All Blacks but it's time for some stylie kiwi gear that isn't a rugger jersey. I see jerseys, sweats, beanies, bags, pashminas - merino wool, possum fur - World, Karen Walker. Give us an edge!"
Wellington, NZ

"NZEDGE is a great concept - it is about time we stopped knocking ourselves as a nation and caught hold of the fantastic advantages we have as a small but intensely competitive country. What we really need is some visionary leadership from our government."
Maintenance Superintendent, New Plymouth, NZ

"Thank you for a positive site. It reminds me of why I still love NZ. It also reminds me how easy it can be in NZ to get ahead with a good attitude."
Manager, Rotorua, NZ

"A fascinating example of post-modern nationalism that trascends the old stereotyping and orthodoxies"
University Lecturer, Christchurch, NZ

"This concept is great to get people motivated to look at collective involvement and inspire vision and a sense of destiny. To bring back the good OLD Kiwi can do attitude, regional listings of people of like mind and purpose would be helpful."
People's advocate, Lower Hutt, NZ

"Keep up the inspiration, I feel as if I too can get closer to the edge."
Fitter, Christchurch, NZ

"Excellent idea! Thank you for taking the initiative to establish a web page of this nature."
Sydney, Australia

"An excellent site, thank you for making this information accessable."
Marketing & Sales Manager, Auckland, NZ

"Am just about to embark on a new journey as a Youth Worker (part-time), and this is the kind of attitude I will instill in our Youth Group participants. Inspiration is catching. "
Liberator, Christchurch, NZ

"Makes you proud to be a New Zealander. This sort of thing should be compulsory reading for secondary school kids and university students. It would amongst other things make them realise that they can make a mark on the global economy from New Zealand."
Sales Manager, Auckland, NZ

"Your speeches are facinating me. The time has come to stop saying "that was a terrific speech" and start marching!!"
Student@Massey College of Ed., Palmerston North, NZ

"Dear Kevin, I heard you speak at the Compaq Conference in Auckland. My wife attended the whole conference. I only tagged along for the dinner. I enjoyed your speech and I hope that people will listen your message where ever you go."
Teacher, Auckland, NZ

"Having just attended The Great Discoveries Compaq Conference 2000 and hearing Kevin Roberts share his vision (and now as an owner of Peak Performance) it makes me excited about being a NZer and as a learner cum teacher that if I aim for the sky, I can expect great things (even if I only clear the hedge initially!) Thanks Kevin for your frank and honest presentation at Eden Park last Thursday!"
Assistant Principal, Paihia, NZ

"A fantastic and inspiring connection to NZ! This is just what we Kiwis need while pursuing careers overseas... (A connection to others NZers overseas would be great...) my question is - what will bring us home?!"
Industrial Designer, Palo Alto-San Francisco, USA
