NPR Excited About Folk Singer Holly Arrowsmith

New Zealander Holly Arrowsmith has made NPR’s Austin 100 list, compiled of musicians who would otherwise be performing at the annual SXSW music festival, now shutdown owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Arrowsmith writes languid, yearning folk songs that frequently draw on the natural world for inspiration,” Stephen Thompson writes for NPR.

“She’s toured with fellow New Zealander Tiny Ruins, and her songs vibrate at a similar frequency: They’re spare, subtle, approachable and utterly beautiful, anchored by a voice that pulls you close and cancels the noise outside,” he writes.

Arrowsmith’s debut album, For The Weary Traveller received the TUI Folk Album of 2016 award and she was recently presented the APRA ‘Country Song of the Year’ 2019 for her single, ‘Slow Train Creek’, penned in the Rockies of Colorado.

Arrowsmith was born in Sante Fe, New Mexico.
