Talking Clinical Ethics
Associate professor and chair of the department of philosophy at the University of Auckland Tim Dare recently delivered the keynote talk, entitled “Challenges to Clinical Ethics Committees”, at Washington and Lee University’s Medical Ethics Institute in Virginia. Dare discussed a published critique of clinical ethics committees with which he disagrees. Dare is a barrister and solicitor on the High Court of New Zealand and his current research is in medical ethics, professional and applied ethics and the philosophy of law. Dare is the author of The Counsel of Rogues – A Defence of the Standard Conception of the Lawyer’s Role, published in 29, and more than 15 journal articles.
