Great Scotts Take First and Second in Texas

Two New Zealanders have claimed top spots in the same race on the IndyCar circuit over the weekend, with Scott Dixon winning his fifth Texas Motor Speedway outing and Team Penske rookie Scott McLaughlin, on his first oval track, coming in second.

It was Dixon’s 51st overall series win and first this year, Stefan Stevenson reports for the Fort-Worth Star Telegram. This latest victory also puts Dixon within one win of the legendary Mario Andretti’s career total of fifty-two.

“It was definitely an interesting [race], but we won. That’s what counts,” Dixon, 40, said. “This is a team effort. This is what makes it worthwhile for everybody.”

According to The Chequered Flag, Hamilton-born McLaughlin, 27, “turned heads across the sport” with his “incredible” finish.
