The Power of the Dog Among Worthy Globe Winners
Jane Campion’s “handsome, complex and brilliant” western The Power of the Dog won best picture (drama) and best director at this year’s Golden Globes, along with best supporting actor for “the excellent” Kodi Smit-McPhee, Peter Bradshaw reports for The Guardian.
“The Power of the Dog, through that mysterious process of awards-season groupthink, is emerging as the single frontrunner,” Bradshaw writes, “though there could hardly be a more deserving beneficiary: a colossal tragic drama taking place on a giant plain, dominated by an almost dreamlike house, surreally isolated on this vast landscape.”
The awards are the New Zealander’s first Golden Globe wins.
