South Pacific Role for Rhodes

New Zealand baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes will star in an Opera Australia production of South Pacific to open at the Sydney Opera House this month ahead of a nationwide tour. Opera Australia’s artistic director Lyndon Terracini says South Pacific is an appropriate work for an opera company. “Ezio Pinza — one of the greatest basses ever — was the first Emile de Becque, so you can see why an opera company would do it,” Terracini says. Rhodes was born in Christchurch in 1966. He is based in New York.
