Talking of The Small Screen
Palme d’Or and Oscar-winning New Zealand director Jane Campion will attend the international television market MIPCOM next month in Cannes, France to talk about her first small-screen foray, the new series Top of the Lake. Campion will participate in MIPCOM’s Creative Talks sessions together with Gerard Lee, the co-writer and co-creator of the series. The television drama is set in New Zealand and focuses on a police investigation into the disappearance of the pregnant 12-year-old daughter of a local drug lord. Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss stars together with Holly Hunter. A MIPCOM press release describes the series as set “against one of the most amazing and untouched landscapes left on the planet.” “Top of the Lake is a powerful and haunting story about our search for happiness where the dream of paradise attracts its dark twin, the fall.” Campion was born in Wellington. She lives in Australia.
