The LA Times explores the history of Gridley, Kiwifruit Capital of the USA and sister city to Te Puke – Kiwifruit Capital of the World, thank you very much. Of note is the trade war between NZ and America in the early 90s, when NZ “flooded the US market with predatorily low-priced [fruit] … The Americans and New Zealanders eventually shook hands and made up.”
