NZ premiere of “The Solar Nation of Tokelau”
Date: August 8, 2016 at 6 pm
Location: Victoria Cinema, Devonport, Auckland
The TV documentary “The Solar Nation of Tokelau” was produced for German TV by NZ documentary producer Ulli Weissbach and broadcast by Arte TV, a French-German arts and culture channel, in September 2015. It shows how a small Pacific island nation switched its power supply to 100% solar energy, thus becoming the first nation in the world to be free of CO2 emissions and having the most sustainable power generation on earth. At the same time Tokelau is one of the small island groups that is most affected by climate change. And yet it has given the world an example of how the fight against climate change can effectively be fought by even the smallest countries in the world.
