All Bronzed Up for Bondi Beach Vogue Shoot

Seventeen-year-old Miss Vogue cover model Holly Rose speaks about how she went from an “ordinary girl from New Zealand” to one of the most in-demand models in the southern hemisphere within a year. “I always thought [modelling] looked like a glamorous job,” Rose says. “I saw an article written by Amanda Betts from the model agency Red Eleven in the newspaper. That really planted the seed, so last year my mum took me to Red Eleven. I guess my friends only see the glamorous pictures that come out, so they think it’s really cool and fabulous what I’m doing, but they perk me up when I’m tired, which is great.” Vogue asks: “Since becoming a model, how has your personal style changed.” “I feel like I am expressing myself more through my style now. Before I was a bit of a sheep and just followed the usual high-school trends but now I try to keep my style youthful, sporty and chic. Before becoming a model I did love fashion and tried to keep up to date with it, but I probably wasn’t as interested or as involved in fashion as I am now.” “What was your favourite moment working on the Miss Vogue shoot?” “Getting to be a bronzed goddess on a beautiful day at Bondi with Christine Centenera, [photographer] Pierre Toussaint and the amazing team. I don’t think there was a favourite moment because I had such a fabulous day. I couldn’t pick just one.” “What’s on your music playlist right now?” “Royals from The Love Club by [New Zealand singer] Lorde, and Daft Punk’s album Random Access Memories.” “What do you like to do in your spare time?” “I love to bake – anything from cakes to pastries; I like to read, listen to music, take my dog for a walk and hang out with my friends and family. Just ordinary teenage things.”
