All Systems Are Go

New Zealand’s largest solar power plant, a 68-kilowatt farm, has opened in Drury, South Auckland and “if – or perhaps when – the world’s natural resources run out, New Zealand will be laughing all the way to the bank,” according to Tim Moore for Australian trade site DesignBuildSource. South Auckland Forging Engineering (SAFE) has 360 solar panels powering its site. The farm was built by Ramarama company What Power Crisis and is expected to provide 70 per cent of SAFE’s power needs and enough electricity to run 12 houses during the next year. “With such a strong commitment to sustainable energy the country is setting itself up in good stead for impending carbon taxes and for a highly sustainable future,” Moore writes.
