Finn to Release Third Studio Album The Nihilist

Liam Finn has announced the release of his first full-length studio album in three years, titled The Nihilist. The Melbourne-based singer-songwriter has also unveiled the album’s first single, Snug As F-ck.

The track is the first taste of an album that multi-instrumentalist Finn, 30, and his collaborators pieced together during night-long sessions in a Brooklyn studio overlooking the Manhattan skyline.

“As soon as I found my own space to bunker down, the songs started taking shape,” New Zealander Finn said. “There was a surreal feeling created through the energy of where I was and looking over at Manhattan and seeing it as … an entity in itself where every story under the sun was happening all at once.”

Finn first turned heads with his debut solo effort, I’ll Be Lightning, which garnered critical acclaim from a myriad of outlets and saw the singer-songwriter embark on tours with the likes of Eddie Vedder, The Black Keys, and Wilco, before cementing his formidable reputation in 2011 with FOMO.

The Nihilist will be released in Australia on 4 April.

Finn is the son of pop musician Sharon and Neil Finn, of Split Enz, Crowded House and Finn Brothers, and has a sold-out show in Wellington next Tuesday, 4 February.
