Neil McGregor Appointed Sembcorp Top Roles

Energy expert New Zealand-born Neil McGregor will take over the position of group president and chief executive at Singapore’s state-linked conglomerate Sembcorp Industries in April 2017.

McGregor, 61, is currently heading the energy and resources group at Temasek International, the global business arm of Temasek Holdings, Singapore’s state investment company. With his experience in liquefied natural gas and the power generation industry, the new CEO is expected to drive Sembcorp’s diversification, shifting away from its troubled oil rig building business.

“With today’s volatile economic environment and changing market dynamics in our industry sectors, we believe we have selected a strong leader for Sembcorp,” chairman Ang Kong Hua said.

McGregor was the first CEO at Singapore LNG Corporation, the company that the government set up in 2009 to push the city-state’s ambition to become the region’s LNG hub. Before that, he was managing director of YTL PowerSeraya, the second largest power generation company in Singapore.
