New Zealand Labels to Know Before Everyone Else

According to Vogue Australia there are six New Zealand names in fashion you should know before everyone else and these are: Georgia Alice, Eugénie, Harman Grubisa, Lucilla Gray, Stolen Girlfriend’s Club and Twenty Seven Names.

“Rachel Easting and Anjali Stewart [of Twenty Seven Names] meld an interest in structure and menswear with traditionally more feminine silhouettes like circle skirts,” Vogue reports.

“It’s not surprising then their newest collection, equal parts apron dresses and clean tailoring, was inspired by historically strong women represented in artist Judy Chicago’s epic feminist work ‘The Dinner Party’. With fabrics sourced from Italy and New Zealand the focus is on quality. ‘We don’t make really sexy pieces, we kind of make stuff that you can just wear and feel really confident and comfortable in,’ Easting says.”

The publication recommends Elizabeth Eugénie Wilson’s inflected eveningwear.

“Notable for her way with fabric – twisting, draping and coaxing into purposefully dishevelled off-the-shoulder tops and dresses – Wilson, who honed her design skills at Karen Walker, is a contemporary label on the up.”
