Sharon Van Etten’s surprise performance leaves John Campbell in tears

John Campbell’s colleagues surprised the New Zealand news anchor with the ultimate music fan experience: his very own personal Sharon Van Etten show.

Because of his demanding work schedule, Campbell was unable to attend a recent concert in Auckland from one his favorite artists Sharon Van Etten.

The Brooklyn singer-songwriter dedicated the Are We There standout track “Tarifa” to a giddy and flabbergasted Campbell, and her performance literally moved him to tears.

Campbell told viewers: “I’m completely taken aback … I had no idea this was happening … I love Sharon’s music a stupidly large amount and have for many years and I’m a bit overwhelmed by this.”

John Campbell is the host of New Zealand’s nightly news program Campbell Live.
