London Kiwi Chef Brings ‘Balm to the Soul’
Kiwi chef Tyler Martin hails from New Plymouth. His Fulham restaurant is called Manuka Kitchen. The name is entirely apt, according to Independent food writer John Walsh. Martin and his partner Joseph Antippa’s food does indeed, like Manuka honey, ‘bring balm to the soul’, Walsh writes. ‘Supper passes in a convivial glow. The menu radiates richness. Bone marrow and saffron arancini are a beautiful sight… [the] crispy squid…tastes delicious’ and the’ salty brininess” of the chicken with mussels gives the poultry a ‘touch of excitement.’ Puddings were ‘complex and beautiful objets d’art’, and the service depicted as ‘warm and friendly throughout’. An ‘attractive and flavoursome addition to the gastroscape’ concludes Walsh. Manuka Kitchen is at 510 Fulham Rd, London SW6 (020-7736 7588). Around £80 for two with wine.
